There's quite a lot tactical depth in the combat althought it has simplistic approach to execution in general. The UI and gameplay per se looks kind of colorful and jolly. The tutorial seems to have some storytelling involved. Start with the tutorial (which is the start of a campaign) and play a couple of games to find your favorite race / secret tech combo.Įnjoy! And don't be afraid to ask if you have questions :) The game is already very comprehensive and full of content. Still, the best start would be without mods in my opinion. The newest expansion for Age of Wonders: Planetfall feels lighter than the previous expansions but is still incredibly solid, and the free Triceratops update. It adds more units for the factions of the game. I would suggest to try it out much much later.Īnother mod I like is Expanded Arsenal, which is very vanilla-friendly. I believe there will be 3 linear singleplayer campaigns on release - Vanguard, Kirko, and Amazons - but like pretty much every other AOW game there will also be random map skirmishes and whatnot. I would suggest all DLCs since they add so much in terms of mechanics, races, etc.įor mods, Adventure Mod is pretty big but a complete overhaul. Go play Age of Wonders 1 campaign, and come back to give us the answer you found. As Age of Wonders: Planetfall (we’re just going with Planetfall going forward) is the first. I always liked Master of Magic so I'll give this a try.Īre there any particular mods / content / DLC you'd recommend? Something to streamline or enchance playing or UI or smth?Ĭongratulations! It's one of my favorite games and I hope you'll like it as well. Age Of Wonders: Planetfall is epic in every sense of the word. Originally posted by Screaming Stukas:I bought it.
