![]() Where you've centered the reticle will be (ideally) where the shells land. Shots can land equidistant short, long, left or right of the target. The guns level on where you want to aim, but you have to keep their dispersion in mind. You are calculating the lead of the shot, auto ranging is compensating for the elevation, and RNG does the rest. It makes next no difference, the game uses auto ranging once the target is locked, stop thinking it's just you and RNG with aiming because it's not remotely the case. I've not really seen a good video talking about how to balance range/angle of shell vs armor, anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm thinking that there may be some sort of optimal height to aim at, say: ![]() I previously had been aiming my longer range salvos at the waterline as well but after seeing the shells fall from a different angle and wondering if I should be aiming them to land higher - maybe the deck, in hopes some fall into the citadel area at a steeper angle. ![]() Since shots hitting higher may just pen straight through. It somewhat makes sense - shells at long range will be primarily coming down on the ship, rather than at a horizontal, and so if they pen the top of the ship into the cit areas they'll get a citadel hit.Īt closer ranges, since many shells hit at a much shallower angle, you need to aim more at the waterline to get citadels. Now that I have the NM upgrade to range through the plane, I'm finding something interesting.Īiming longer ranged salvos further up on the ship (ie from a top down view, aiming right at the center of the ship) seems to be the best way to get citadel hits. ![]()
